Exact same thing- The test system still needs to be qualified. It must demonstrate the ability to yield consistent and reliable results, regardless of whether one's listening ability or a component's performance is being evaluated.
If I were to test someone's aural ability and sensitivity, I'd send him to a clinical laboratory certified to run comprehensive tests on human hearing, not someone's home stereo system.
I also don't know why some are so concerned over others' claims of extraordinary hearing ability. It's like, for example, George Louis constantly claims discerning absolute polarity on headphones, while I've never been able to do that. Am I concerned if what he claims might be his imagination? Maybe a little. But if he is fooling himself, that's his problem. Not yours or mine.
