Hi TubeguyYou have hit the nail on the head, it is simply taking away the knowledge of “which is which†that leaves what you actually (acoustically speaking) hear.
That is why in my other posts I didn’t say the dred DBT words, what they mean by “blind†is simply that you don’t know which is which and there are intentionally no clues other than whatever you hear. Most tests are A vs B like the outcome of taking a real drug thought to be a drug vs a sugar pill thought to be a drug etcI think most of the time, a simple thing you describe would be perfectly effective and informative and can be done at any pace in a familiar setting etc.
Ideally, a situation where the only thing new or different is what you’re comparing .On the other hand, if you want to make a proper scientific study, which will withstand scrutiny of the “central scrutinizerâ€, then one must follow the “rulesâ€.
For example, statistical stuff like if you tossed a coin 10 times and it came up heads 6 times, that is no big deal, If you did it 100,000 times and it came up heads 60,000 times, that is meaningful.
Best,Tom
