Let me ask a simplified question about counting possibilities. Suppose you flip a fair coin 10 times, each time writing down heads or tails. At the end of the 10 flips, what are the odds that you have exactly 2 heads and 8 tails written down?I'm not sure but I think this question is not simplified - in fact if anything it's more complicated than the one we are currently discussing. There're are functions to use in Excel to solve these kinds of problems but learning to properly understand the functions themselves is a job in itself.
I can write a simulation to do say 1000 sets of 10 coin flips and then determine how often heads appeared 2 times in each set - if the random function is decent the results should be fairly representative.
What do you think the answer is?
It would be nice if someone more familiar with statistics could simply give us the equation so I can avoid having to fiqure it out from the results of a simulation.
Give me rhythm or give me death!
