Re: Cable/wires and acoustic properties (imaging,sound staging,etc..).

Motor/generator effects are not there...don't happen, man!!!!!check the numbers...geeze, how many times...:-) (actually, I do owe ya a response on that, but I've been busier than all getout..I'll get to it..with some real numbers..

Goofin ya, Jon..looks like you're back on line..Hope your feelin well..and your wife also..

The reason for this post:

You said: "" Look at what makes the difference between a mono signal, and a stereo one (even a studio generated psuedo-stereo). Timing and phase differences between the two chanels.""

I was just thinking about that in resp. to another thread...

For a multitrack mixdown to the stereo end product, I see standard panels with pan controls..Don't those controls just change the amplitude between channels? I would expect there to be a time dependent component also..And, I would expect that time function to be derived by the target speaker distance from the listener, as well as the speaker to speaker distance.

So, I really don't see how the end user (us) can rely on the studio to make the recording consistent with the physical setup of (my) speakers..Leaving me despondent that I will never see a good soundstage with any speaker.

Do studios have guidelines for determining the temporal function vs amplitude? Or are we bound to change our speaker spacing to accomodate the different studio timing fuctions???

Cheers, John

PS..any moosetracks lately, or is your (wife) still on a diet?
