Re: Who said anything about multitracking?

Most of the studio guys I know haven't used a simple pan pot to position a multi=track sound for over 10 years or so. Phase and amplitude, with additionally phase altered reverb is used, as found in the better software based editing suites. Some have their own "secret recipe" of processing and signal processing they use to position sources, others use retail software packages.

Many people routinely use various proprietary virtual mixdown software that positions virtual sources using phase, HTRFs, etc., such as Q-sound, etc.
