Hi Tony, I'm not a Dr. but I am evil. ;-) Here's a possibility: it is pretty well known that a dip in the midrange or upper midrange frequency response can make the soundstage appear deeper, or at least set back a bit from the speakers, and some speaker designers have taken advantage of this in their designs. Couldn't a cable with a midrange FR dip do the same?
