Remember that *one* reason to use more tubes in an OTL is to drive down output impedance. So while you get more power, it's nearly a fringe benefit or side effect from having lower output impedance and hence, better drive into some lower-impedance speakers and more challenging bass alignments... of course you've also got a forest of tubes, thus heat... and to "lower" output impedance on the lower power amps with fewer tubes, you can get the external impedance multipliers and raise the speaker impedance instead for a more copasetic ratio.
