From what you are describing, it sound like you have the feedback dialed up to high. Are you using the Joule amps at thier lowest feedback setting???? What cables and power cords (and power conditioning) are you using???BTW, minimum impednace of the speakers is 6.5 ohms... not claimed - as measured.
In my own personally biased opinion (I am a Merlin and Joule retailer), if you want the kind of dynamics you are looking for and even greater ease than the VZN-100s... go for the VSM-MXe and Super-BAM (lead free ROHS compliant version) and then connect it to a pair of VZN-160s. If that does not do it for you, I do not know what will.
