I agree with your comments about Nordost cables to a "T". A local dealer who can hear does not recommend the high end N cables for that very reason. However other more prosaic cables (eg Monster) add a chestiness esp. to male voices that is unnatural. Superflatline is a bargain, esp. for electrostats. Low characteristic Z is a good thing for electrostats, IMHO.
