Hi Kurt, I suspect that your problem is probably your room. Without proper treatment the reflections in a room can really mess up the sound at higher volumes. This is a problem that Steve Schell and I must always deal with whenever we have a demo room at a show. I think at the first RMAF show , we had something like a dozen kingsize matresses lining the walls. I am currently temporarlly running the Cogent horns in my untreated livingroom and am experiencing the same problems. Normally a compression driver and horn are running at such low distortion levels that a slight increase in sound level shouldn't degrade the sound.
