Get a cheap but good sounding universal player & get rid of your Toshiba player. Then you can still listen to an occasional SA-CD.
I recommend the Yamaha S657. It plays SA-CD, DVD-A, DAD & CD. It can upsample CD audio. Although not mentioned, it appears to decode HDCD. The only problem is that it might convert DSD to PCM. But it does not hurt to try! In the US so many retailers allow you to return products. That's not available in many other countries. It sounds better than my Toshiba SD-5200 and should be better than your Toshiba too.Unlike you, once I invest in equipment, I find it difficult to dispose them. I have some speakers that I bought at a “discount†and hardly used them. They take up valuable space in my apartment but I cannot get myself to sell them! My Toshiba still works although it does not read some CDs. I don’t feel like throwing it away for upgrading!
