Re: A Question for Classical SACD Collectors

I am in agreement with several of the posts, I don't think that the mainstream is all that well served by the SACD, yet. There really are few "great" Beethoven symphonies out in great sound (after all, that is what this format is supposed to be about), while Mahler seems served well, Tchaikovsky's symphonies look good for the most part, and Bruckner is getting on the bandwagon. But very few great Brahms or Schumann or Schubert or Rachmaninov symphonies, or concertos, either! There is lots of room for better sound and performance here. I would particularly like to see a more robust issuing of the MPL recordings, there was a goodly number of unusual and great performances there. But, insofar as I have a large classical collection on rbcds, as the good stuff comes out on SACD, I just add to the collection and let some of the lesser RBCDs go...
