I installed carpet spikes, which has helped but not to the point of eliminating vibration. I also bought a JA Michell tecnoweight for my tonearm, which allows for more precise force adjustments. None of these cured my mysterious tracking issue. Yesterday, the stylus skidded off a 10" LP, hit the platter and died.
I bought a Shure tracking force gauge but haven't used it, nor have I purchased a leveler device, so I've been lazy. The cartridge came factory aligned but I should have checked that with the provided alignment tool (piece of paper). I was hoping the spikes would solve any level issue.
Now, I am waiting for my new cart to arrive, then I will do proper alignment and tracking force adjustments. Gonna look into a spindle leveler recommended up-thread. I am also seriously considering the Apollo or Target wallmount stand. I am concerned, though, about wall vibration generated by my subwoofer, which would be located about 8' away along the same wall.
