I have my table on the top shelf too, although my rack is not as high as yours and it is twice as wide. The rack will still wobble a bit if you give it a little push. I have heavy components on the bottom shelves and that helps to keep it a little more stable. I think the worse case would be to have all of the weight up top and none below.
But what can we do? It really doesn't make sense to put your T table on the lowest shelf even if you don't have kids. (BTW, it's not too difficult to teach our kids to respect our stereo equipment. It's even more fun when they are old enough to use the gear with us.) I have seen pictures of super high end systems where everything is on the floor or nearly that low. I don't get it. Does anybody ever use it?
The only alternative to no wobble at all seems to be a very low rack (multiple low racks for a lot of equipment) or the wall shelf. I have considered the wall shelf too, but I don't know if I want to drill big holes in the walls to hang the damn thing. Knowing me, I would probably want to move it to a different location in 6months and then I would have to putty and paint again. That's just me though. I'm just afraid to try it.
If you do go with the wall shelf you might want to ask about it at vinyl asylum for installation tips. Lots if people using the wall shelf over there.
