Room treatments--which is better, pyramid foam or wedge foam?

I didn't think I had room problems as I can pass a slap echo test, but a recent experiment proved otherwise. Ok, no laughter at this ridiculous exercise, but I actually hung a towel down from the ceiling in the corner of the listening room behind the speakers. I didn't think it had any effect when I put it up. And, it looked so stupid, I took it down. When I took it down, the sound got incredibly brighter and had glare. It was a revelation of how much reflection I was getting from the corners. I don't have a boomy bass problem so bass corner traps are unnecessary (actually have the opposite problem with a bass null in my listening seat). I was thinking of putting up foam wedges on the walls butting up against the corner. Which is better, the pyramid shaped foam pads or the wedges? I've read that the pyramid offers more diffusion and less absorption which may be good as I don't want to overdamp the sound either. Then again, will I get enough high frequency corner absorption with the pyramids? Or, maybe I'm approaching this the wrong way altogether. Any thoughts or ideas are appreciated. Seems like the Foam Factory offers some reasonable deals on ebay and for $30-50 might be worth a shot. Auralex is more expensive but is it any better ? Thanks.
