I am an economist by training and a pessimist by nature, and when it comes to things like radio tubes, I believe in markets.Sweep tubes are high voltage tubes that used to be used primarily in the output stage of TVs. There apparently are billions of these lying around collecting dust. Many of them have excellent sonic characteristics as triodes, with very high voltage ratings and high reliability factors. A few designers have started to use them.
BC stuff is expensive, esp the 200 series, but i can assure you they are musical and a far cry from the old SS sound that is perpetuated by mfrs like Bryston. BC sound is silky smooth and lightning fast.
