THE CITATION IS A GOOD AMP.HAVE HAD A FEW AND HAVE ALWAYS BEEN IN A DEEP FUNK AFTER SELLING!!AND BY THE WAY YOU PROBABLY WATCHED HOWDY DOODY AND BUFFALO BOB AS THE VIDEO WAS BOOSTED TO THE GUN OF THE OLD DUMONT BY A 12BY7A.EXCELLENT FRAME GRID VIDEO AMP!!AND REMEMBER KIDS YOUR VIDEO AMP HAS TO HAVE GOOD RESPONSE TO 4Mc.!! ANOTHER THOUGHT FOR A 6550 AMP WOULD BE THOSE ALLEN ORGAN AMPS. THE ONES WITH THE SARATOGA TRANSFORMERS ARE MUCH MORE AFFORDABLE THAN THE OTHER ONES,THE NAME ESCAPES ME RIGHT NOW ....SENIOR MOMENT I GUESS. DESIGN SOMETHING OR OTHER,CAN'T REMEMBER.YOU MIGHT TRY 8417's.THEY ARE VERY INTERESTING AND THE FISHER THAT USES THEM IS WORTH THE QUEST ONCE YOU PUT A WORTHY LONG TAILED INVERTER IN IT.AND THE ELL-80's can be replaced with 6CG7'S.SINCE IT IS class AB THERE REALLY IS NO NEED FOR A DRIVER THAT CAN SWING POWER. AND THE POOR THING IS TRIODE CONNECTED ANY WAY. ANOTHER WORTHY OPPONENT FOR SOME NICE MODS ARE THE BOGENS.SOME OF THEM WILL GIVE MARANTZ ,MAC ,AND CITATIONS A REAL FIT!!THE MO-100A's are worthy of a look as in stock form they have something!the front ends and the power supplies are typical of commercial stuff, marginal on a good day.
