Let me say that my exp. with an Ah!Tjoeb 99 cd player-amperex orange globe 7308 tubes and mundorf couplers , modified to take after mkt AC cords was an exceptionally good one . That said , I recently got the urge to get rid of the player because of compatability problems with CD-r's . All I can find is taiwan and malaysian Cr@p locally and they don't play worth a hoot . Taiyo Yuden CDR's are the BOMB . Any way I built a NON -os DAC bases on TDA1543 with just coupling caps on the output . They , by the slightest of margines , out perform the Tube output of the AH! CD player . The joke ended up being on Me when the best sounding transport I had available ended up being the AH! . So I'm still looking for a Transport in the future .So , You don't have to have tubes in the CD player to get good sound and decent warmth . And I don't have to worry about finding some decent 7308's after my old one's bite the dust . Man , thats gotta be about $180.00 saved .
