Sounds to me like the dealer is trying to sell you a set of ARC tubes. ARC uses SED 6550Cs. ARC does go to a lot of effort testing/burning in/matching the tubes. I've been to the factory a number of times and I've seen this in action. They test EVERYTHING that goes into the products. They have racks of cooling fans running in and even these are tested and graded.I don't suspect ARC specs a special pin size from SED, but the ARC tube grading and selection process might explain, at least in part, some of the cost of the tubes they sell.
