He's definitively pushing for selling you a quad of ARC. Those are actually rebranded Sovtek/EH/Reflektor.The difference in pin size is more problematic for the 9 pins type of tubes than the 8 pins. Assuming there is no oxydation on the socket pins, you can improve the contact by GENTLY compressing the pin cup (or the fork depending of the socket pin type in your amp). This should fix an eventual contact problem. If the bias still drift, problem might be a faulty tube or the amp. Switch the tubes from the left channel to the right channel and check if the bias problem follows the tubes or is related to one channel (or one socket if you have individual bias for each tube).
