1st the RM200 is a nice amp. sorry if I came off arrogant and preachy, but I have this discussion with two or 3 guitar guys and they won't concede that their Marshall 50 watt amps aren't running the 2 EL34s at 25 watts each simply because it's a 50 watt amp.. so I may have been preachy in my reply to you. Don't worry about the 750 VDC; this was a fairly popular commercial amp and does not have a reputation as a tube killer-- quite the opposite in fact because of the low screen voltage, which is much more critical than plate voltage. Plus, Roger Modjeski, the designer also owned RAM tube selection service and I think you could say HE would know the ins and outs of tube reliability issues. A JJ KT88 might be a good bet for you as they can handle BIG voltage w/no problem-- I read on the web somewhere that a DIY'er pushed them to 1000 VDC plates/400 VDC screens in pentode and had no problems. He biased to 40 ma and they just rolled along. I personally think high idle current, Class A operation being the only way to get true hifi is horseshit. I actually own an amp that ran EL34s at 500VDC Plates and Screens, and spec bias was 65 ma! Thats 95% of max plate+ screen dissipation! The manual stated: the plates will glow a dull red-- this is normal (!!) I backed it down to 50 ma, and it sounded WAY more dynamic and had a HUGE soundstage it lacked before. Class AB is fine.
