Home Music Lane

It's all about the music, dude! Sit down, relax and listen to some tunes.

My favorites are the 8th and the 15th.

...even though they are probably not the best examples of rhytmic music in Shostakovich. But how do the Beethovens compare in them: are they, say, faster or slower? Or their ensemble work, which I find crucial for success in these particular works. I'm intrigued by this "life." It's true that a performance should have life.

And is the recording quality OK: I'm a bit worried about the age of their recordings, that the full spectrum of this music, so nuanced in dynamic gradations and built upon extremely quiet sounds, might not come appropriately through.

Where could I get a sample if I get intrigued enough based on your description?

Thanks,

TL
