Put the RCAs away for use in single stereoblock mode. All 8 O/P tubes need to be the same variety. The Russian 6p14p-ev/EL84M is a decent sounding, affordable, 7189 equivalent. The other decent current production EL84 is the JJ.Lifting the ground on the O/P trafo secondaries is out, as that fouls the loop NFB circuitry up.
Converting a stereoblock into a monoblock requires the voltage swings of the 2 sections be summed in the load. There is but 1 workable method for use with amps that have a common ground, like the Dynas. The 2 sections have to be driven with out of phase signals and the load connected across the "hot" terminals. As each section "sees" only half the speaker load, the OEM Z565 O/P trafos become problematic. 16 Ohm speakers get connected to the 8 Ohm taps. 8 Ohm speakers are unusable, as there are no 4 Ohm taps. :~(
IMO, you would be BETTER OFF acquiring a Fisher or Scott 7591 based amp as a solution to the problem of more power.
