Sounds too high

By coincidence, I just built a UL PP amp using 6L6s (just a mono amp for a mono system I am building). The recommended transformer was 4500 ohms p-p. The transformer I had was 4500 ohms, but had 4 and 15 ohm output taps (no 8 ohm - which was what I prefer to use). However, I tried it into an 8 ohm speaker, hence lowering the load impedance further, and also, biased them fairly hot.

I have read in the archives here, and in RDH4 that this results in a little less power but less distortion. I am really enjoying the sound of this amp, so even though the load impedance is very low, it works!

To go the other way is not recommended by RDH4 "The effect of higher load resistance is to increase rapidly the odd harmonic distortion, while the effect of lower load resistance is to decrease the power output. It is therefore advisable, with a loudspeaker load, to adopt a nominal impedance rather less than the value for maximum power output"

Hence I think going to 8k is going the wrong way.
