I would disagree with you that Jeff Medwin's comment was constructive because he did not explain his negative comment. If I was teaching someone and told them, "You're terrible", without telling them what they were doing wrong and how to improve themselves, every teacher in my experience would regard that as NOT be a constructive comment, but rather a destructive one. mach1, on the other hand, did make some very constructive, and instructive, comments without the negativity.
