Yeah, It's a cool looking deck in a no frills workhorse kind of way. I bought it impulsively from a local guy not knowing much about reel to reels. I know Ampex is a good name in recording decks, and it's old, meaning to me, "things were built solid in the 60's" so it's a no brainer. I didn't do my homework on this one but we'll see if it works for my application. I plan on running signal through the preamps before going into my hard disk recorder. Hopefully I can do this without any mods. If the PR10 is still working-recording that will be even better. I prefer the sound of older recordings and how tape compression had an effect on them. I'm hoping it will add a little color to my recordings.Thanks for all your opinions. If anyone has blank 7" tapes for sale I may be interested.
