Consider, you have about 5 microsecond sensitivity to interchannel phase delay, and that 5 microseconds manifests as a teenytiny shift in center direction.With wire running at .5 C, that's 1 foot per 2 nanoseconds.
5000/2 is about 2500 feet of wire, at a SLOW propagation velocity.
