Data tapes are not made to as high a standard as pro grade audio DAT tapes such as Sony PPD, HHB and Apogee. Unlike computer data, audio machines don't keep rewriting data until it will verify without errors. Drop outs are a much bigger issue in audio. Data tapes ARE better than consumer grade DAT but that isn't saying much.
