thing that can happen to a person, finding audio satisfaction...

Me too and so many others too. It's not a black art anymore.
The 20hz to 20khz frequency range is not a big challenge
anymore considering modern day advances in semiconductors.

We know that vinyl using needles sounds better than modern
day CD's... HEHE

Seriously, mass market audio is a joke you have to seek out the
well designed stuff.. You can't go into Circuit City and expect
to be dazzled with their audio systems.

The reason home audio high end manufacturers advertise "no-amps"
in their design is not because they are not good, it's because
the there are many myths in the audiophile community and
in order to justify paying $10,000-$100,000 for an amplifier
it's best for them to design using discretes, it creates an
illusion that they actually have something unique..

So what do they do? They make discrete circuits ...and these
circuits are nothing more circuit topologies also found in op-amps.

Like I said, op-amps are everywhere especially in studios when
the musio is created.. If you think that op-amps contaminate music
then all the music you purchase has been tainted.
