But Mark, the spkr wires WERE short....

Re my previous posting wherein I reported my experience comparing XLO Reference spkr wire to Goertz silver spkr wire, please note first of all that I agree emphatically with Mark that when using the MP1 or MP3 to drive an Atma amp, interconnects are not nearly as critical as they are with other equipment combinations. My remarks were specifically regarding speaker wire, NOT interconnects. And since introducing the MP1 into my system, I have got my amps sitting right next to my SoundLab spkrs, so that I can use very short runs of spkr wire, per Mark's advice. Thus, when I compared XLO to Goertz, I was using very short lengths of each. In fact, I was comparing about 3 feet of XLO to 8 feet of Goertz, which should per se have been in favor of the XLO. Nevertheless, the Goertz kicked butt. In my system, the spkr wire apparently makes a big difference in delivering all of the the magic of which the Atma-sphere electronics are capable. Now I have to get out my wire cutters to shorten those Goertz cables.
