Are Horn Speakers good with classic rock?

Hello Everyone,
Currently I own a pair of Meadowlark Shearwaters (two-way, time-coherent) driven by a tube integrated. I love mellow sounding systems since the majority of mass market CDs are some-what harsh sounding. I have also recently been hooked to world-jazz music when a friend loaned me his copy of Renaud Garcia-Fons - Oriental Bass. I expect to be enlarging my Jazz collection soon but I still love classic rock.

I have not yet heard a good horn system other than your basic DJ speakers. Those DJ speakers definately sound distorted but I have always admired how effortless and dynamic they sound especially with live recordings. I always miss that huge dynamic range that actual live performances have (whether it be a jazz band or a concert) when listening to box speakers. If you play them too loud they tend to sound harsh rather then alive.

I've read somewhere in this forum that Horns (in particular, rear loaded single driver) are great with small scale works and solo recordings but for larger, more complex works (I thinking classic rock here) multi-way dynamic speakers are better. Anyone care to comment?

I hope to audition an Avantgarde Uno in NYC soon.
