In science, as you know, bias is assumed in every human being. Therefore, steps are taken to reduce the effect of bias as far as possible, and sometimes it creeps in anyway.Audio evaluation is rarely treated as science and, as a hobby, that's OK. It's for fun. But I try my best to eliminate bias, because I well know that my own mind affects my judgments.
And you bring up a good point. Not only does audio change over short and long time periods (my tube amp warming up is one example) but our own value judgments actually change over time.
I definitely agree in not trusting first impressions. I don't honestly feel I got the measure of my own SACD player until I had it for some months and had played dozens of recordings and various types of music.
There are a lot of people on audioasylum that make broad sweeping statements that I know are based on insufficient evidence (I'm not talking about you). Well, it bugs me, but it is a hobby, that's all.
