i own a maverick too. it has broke several times. first the digital out faultered, turns out the connection to the circuit board was poor. then i experienced the random white noise issue, turns out a wire from the laser comes loose very easy. what is not so easy is getting in touch with roy hall and friends to get a repair. roy hall drinks a lot of expensive scotch whiskey, even hands it out at CES, but does a poor job of taking care of customers. music hall does not have an in house repair service, they send it out to a local shop. hence, buy another. if you can afford it, i strongly recommend the Docent-Lector SACD player. its available thu Venus HiFi. if thats out of the price range, i'd go with one of the Marantz or Denon units and have it modded at a later date... just my 2 cents. and roy, thanks for lunch at CES.
