Dear old Mom threw out my Father's 1962 amps, he had several, amatching tuner, a reel to reel to top of the line Sony tape recorder, and and worst of all, an original Empire Turntable.
At the Time I was deeply engrossed in my studies and didn't have the time or will to rifle through the remnants of his estate, forgetting stupidly that he was an audiophile. Having some kind of micropsopic vision on a Final exam or something. I wasn't in my right mind.
She kept the speakers(1959) JBL Signature C38s though, which had been refinished with a hundren coats of primers bases and finished in thick biege paint, to match her furniture . Which she ultimately asked me if I wanted them. I spent about a week of nightly time and several weekends restoring what I could of the original walnut veneer, One of the crossover was damaged but I picked up a single cheap one E-Pray. Tons of Mint Classical records were saved and given to me. BTW she replace the JBLs with small Bose.
MY wife is a Psychiatrsit so I can offer you a discount on her services for therapy, for treatment of depression but yours is a simple case of situational dysphoria. I get unsolicited therapy for anything but audio related issues nightly except about why I am blasting those damned stereos.
I never will forget the lost equipment though therapy or not. It sticks in your throat. BTW The amps had at least real 6 Telefunken 12AX7s a piece and functioning 7868s amongt many other valuable tubes in them he never rolled the tubes as I recall.
