Go ahead roll them tubes, I have the same CD Player and 3 others but this one will not kill you if you disconnect/unplug it and don't mess with the power transformer. I went overboard and used Kevin Deal Mullard 4024s for years souded great and they still test strong, don't use 5751s in this circuit they don't work. I rolled the Mullards to my favorite new cheap 12AX7 favorite the Ninth edition Shuguangs. The original tubes were Shuguangs and were terrible I still have them slow and fuzzy. Take off the tube shields just the tops wiggle gently and pull the plug you new ones in. Never used any special sound coat but did tweak with a Power Cord a Custom all silver cord from MAS, which gave this kind of slow sounding CD some greater immediancy and detail.
