...as that is often the biggest bang-for-the-bucks. Vibration control (equipment racks, brass cone feet etc.) also has a large effect for the cost. Contact treatments (cables and tube pins) are another cheap tweak with noticeable effects, though there is little consensus on which are the best. You should certainly look into tube rolling also, but start with moderately-priced tubes (preferably from from dealers like AA sponsor Jim McShane.)IMHO you should look into these things before contemplating any expensive component swaps.
