Re: Tube Break In

Most of the tubes I've had in my systems continued to change until about the 75 hour mark, and then they pretty much stabilized.

The one exception was a pair of NOS Amperex 6922 white label PQ's that took about 150 hours to sound their best. I had paid top dollar for the PQ's and was using them in a headphone amp, and after about 80 hours of burn in there was a lack of transparency and quite a bit of glare present in the tubes, so I took them out and was going to sell them. Needless to say I was disapointed. But about a month later on a lark I put the PQ's back into the amp and let it run for another 70 hours or so, and to my amazement the glare went away and the tubes really started to sing, and now I love their sound.

But like I said that's the only time I've ever had tubes take more than about 75 hours to fully burn in.
