Some think it matters and some think it doesn't. Both sides will make rational arguments for their case.

I think other characteristics of the speaker are more important---I'd rather listen to a speaker with great dynamics and low distortion and bad time coherence than a speaker with good coherence but high distortion and poor dynamics.

But if someone puts them all together like a Urei 813 or a Big Red did that's all the better. But not Thiels or Vandersteens, poor dynamics there. There are usually Uries on ebay, Big Reds are rarer.
