I've driven Merlin VSM speakers in the three different versions (SE, M & MX) with a few tube amps with great sucess and pleasure. MR RM 9 Mk I & M II with El34 were liquid and very musical. The RM 200 was a joy.

Berning ZH 270 took the M version to new levels of reproduction and enjoyment with great bass and a pristine harmonic envelope. The Joule Electra VSM 100 monos have the most complete harmonic envelope of any amp that I 've had the pleasure to listen with the Merlins. Tremendous midrange focus with believable ambient decay makes this a "must hear" IMO. Bobby has used this combo as his reference with his speakers and one listen and it really shows ...oh, I mean hears : ))

Tubes.........they rule with Merlins!
