Recommended amps for Merlin VSM-M for $1,400 or less (new or used)??

Open to power amp suggestions, tube or solid state, but price range is strictly at $1400. Would be for an older pair of the Merlin VSM-M w/ Bam. My current amp is a digital, Ice H2O, which have a relatively high damping factor (worked great on my Magnepans) and anticipate it may be a bit thin sounding on Merlins. I know this topic has been discussed before, but the highly regarded Bernings and Joule amps are out of my price range. My preamp is a tube Mapletree Audio Ultra 4A, which I love and have no reason to part with or go intergrated. Be interested in other's experiences with amps for Merlins, ie., which ones are recommended as well as which ones are not. Thanks for any thoughts and ideas everyone may have.
