The Ladies and Gentlemen has good sound for a live recording circa 1971, but it is quite raw & might not be the best for you to start with. (It may infact be a two track recording, I can't recall at the moment.) IMHO two of the best (sounding and performance) official live releases are Rockin' The Rhein (1972) and Dick's Pick's # 1 (1973.) The later 1970's stuff usually has better sound, (as HD mentioned, seek out recording done by Betty Cantor Jackson,) although I don't find those performances to have as much fire as the early 70's. That being said, another great Dick's Picks is # 3 (1977) which I believe is sourced from Betty's master reels.
