"but then you don't seem to know anything about it."I wrote down most of the notes sitting at a keyboard with a pencil and paper in one hand, and a remote control to my cd player in the other. I heard it over two dozen times. How much more do I NEED to know about it?
"You don't seem to know that it was in fact recorded for a label, Impulse, that was the company that all of his records recorded from 1961 on were for. You don't seem to realize that it was recorded at Rudy Van Gelder's studio in Englewood Cliffs NJ, which is still there and functioning by the way."
WHOOPEEEEE! So what, why does that matter. I hope he's gotten better equipment and learned how to use it since this recording was made. "Ignorance is bliss..."
When you are judging the quality of a composition and a recording on its own merits, perhaps it is. More information merely skews your opinion and clouds your judgement. I took it as a complete unknown and expressed my opinon. Apparantly, when you disagree with some people who look at it as a religion, it gets them mad. Good. Just don't go postal over it....unless you like the prospect of serving hard time.
