I don't need faster computers here but.....

...my wife does. Her iMac is ancient and pre-SSD. I have an outboard boot SSD hanging off the back of the iMac via USB so the internal HDD is not in use. It's faster but even so, opening Apps and browsers is still a bit slow.

I might play musical Macs and move a couple around. My daily driver office 2018 Intel 6-core i7 16GB 1TB Mac Mini goes to my wife. I buy the 2024 Mac Mini M4 for my office. The 2020 Mac Mini M1 stays in the listening room audio rack. The old iMac gets donated.

As an aside, the lowly entry model 2020 Mac Mini M1 with 8GB RAM (presently in the audio rack) is noticeably faster than my 2018 Intel 6-core i7 16GB in my office. The M1 launches Apps, browsers, and edits large photos much faster. The OS updates are much faster too. A couple nights ago I upgraded to the latest macOS Sequoia 15.1.1. I started on the Intel 6-core i7 first then almost a minute later on the Mac Mini M1. The M1 was done and rebooted while the Intel was still updating. Not that that matters much but in everyday use the Mac Mini M1 is more responsive. The M4 should be even better especially on graphics / photos.

I too went through several product "demo trainings" and industry certifications, including ITIL, ITSM, TOGAF, Solaris 11, others, with my last ones being Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Architect, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure DevOps.... then retirement! As the techie on sales teams I rarely pitched to the techies many of them hung up on 'speeds and feeds'. Mostly pitched to C-Suite and influence map stake holders for larger deals with long project lead times.

Apple's M1 first gen processor

Much faster and uses less power.

Intel i7 6-core processor

Slower than Apple's M1.
