Nowadays Supermarkets sell chart CDs at prices music retailers can't beat, and online retailers undercut them both. Also, when downloads are hyped as being 'CD quality' and the iPod is such a massive influence on listening, many kids bypass the wait for a CD to be delivered, then downloaded into iTunes and downloaded onto their iPod by purchasing downloads.
I prefer to buy discounted CDs online or used CDs, as high street prices are just too expensive and those retailers have only themselves to blame for their demise.
