It'll sound better than most of the big $$$ vintage Pioneer receivers...

if (and only if) it is in good operating condition. If it is "all original", that's, unfortunately, not particularly likely.
The insane prices of the big, sexy Pioneers (e.g., SX-1250 and SX-1980) are just that. Insane.
The SX-1010 is the only Pioneer "super receiver" that really rates the praise and modern-day price tag it gets.
All of the above my opinions -- but I am a Yamaha fanboy when it comes to hardware of that era, as all y'all know. :)
