There's a fairly nice SX-727 here. It's good, not great. None of the 1970s era Pioneers were great, then or now, from a sonic perspective, as far as I am concerned.
It may well sound better than the Onkyo, but it may or may not be happy with modern loudspeaker loads, which tend to be very demanding of amplification, with low impedance minima and/or complicated impedance and/or phase curves.
It's on the bottom of this rather uninspiring stack of mid-tier, second-class early/mid 70s receivers. The only ones still here are the Pioneer and the upper of the two Heathkits, an AR-29.
