Blame Ben Franklin for the confusion. Before the model of electrons and protons was developed, in his experiments with electricity he decided that positive charge flows. That would have been great if electons had positive charge. They don't; they have negative charge. So electrons flow from negative to positive. "Conventional current," which is what you will universally see in serious books on electronics, flows counter to electron flow. It's confusing,l it's a pain in the ass, but that's the way it is.
The symbol on a diode and on BJT transistors shows the direction of conventional current flow; electrons flow the opposite way.
You need to maintain this schizoid duality of current flow and electron flow to hook up diodes, transistors, and 'lytics correctly.
