I am a relative newbie and have recently taken an interest in circuits and tube circuits in particular. I have a conceptual question that I am sure many will find simple to answer. Why is it that the books on circuits disagree as to the general direction of current flow. Some books explain that current flows from negative to positive; others that current flows from positive to negative; others that it flows from positive to negative but electrons flow from negative to positive; and yet others proclaim that it does not matter the direction of current flow. What should I keep in mind when trying to amalyze a circuit and the direction of current flow. It seems that everytime I try to analyze the direction of flow, I end up putting an electrolytic cap or diode in backwards.
