I am surprised at that , unless the screens in the SV83 are wound from particularly fragile wire that is . I have properly taken the piss out of a lot of valves and never had a problem . 7N7 who used to post here was the inspiration , as was the 515 Williamson amp in Langford Smith , after all 807 (G2 300V) were used in place of KT66 as triodes at 400V . . I can't forsee a problem with 6BM8 as long as dissipation is not exceeded , if I had any left in stock I'd strap them as triodes on the Avo and fire them up at 400V to see what happens ;) Surely can't be any worse than 2E24 (200V G2) being run at 400V , can it ?
