Could you advise what Solen cap you tried as I thought about the same make. The problem is we generally use a cap with high capitance, say, 100uF, for an output tube for better lows. Solen of that kind of capacitance would be very large (and expensive).
I believe I don't seem to find a 100uF Solen cap in the usual tube parts vendors but never really seek them out hard.
